ESSENTIAL/ NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Safety Representative will work on construction job sites (electrical voltage ranging from 4kV to 230kV) to monitor safety practices and respond to incidents, reporting directly to the Vice President of Safety, working within the operations of the company (GF’s, FM’s, PM’s). The Safety Representative will act as a resource for coworkers about how to uphold regulatory safety standards and complete tasks while limiting risk of bodily injury. The Safety representative will share knowledge with their team by conducting training and creating informational materials that they post around the workplace and work sites. Confirm that all employees have the appropriate certifications to operate heavy machinery and set standards for testing and maintenance to prevent dangerous malfunctions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Visit job sites and exam current safety procedures in action.
  • Make notes on possible changes that could help limit risk of exposure or injury on the job.
  • Develop emergency evacuation plans to share and enforce a consistent plan that keeps everyone safe.
  • Review accident reports to determine common causes of workplace injuries and brainstorm ways to address these problems.

The ideal candidate will be a Professional Surveyor and Mapper with a valid Florida Surveying License however it is not required. Must have experience with platting/land surveying. Job Description:

This position is responsible for managing survey projects to establish the requirements to meet accuracy standards, budgets, schedules, and board compliance. Supervise and assist coworkers in completing all aspects of land surveying regarding field work and office work, including but not unlimited to establishing horizontal and vertical control, topographic, as-built, property boundary surveys and construction staking. Ensures compliance to all applicable regulations and requirements, including boundary calculations and legal compliance. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Act as an advisor to land surveying team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that project research is complete including plats, deeds, estimates and all necessary job research is complete before dispatching crews to the job.
  • Management of field crews – assign them their daily work schedule, pair assistants with the appropriate crew chiefs.
  • Track the field work to completion and assign to CAD drafters. Ensure that Crew Chiefs are aware of job details and any unusual circumstances prior to dispatching to job.
  • Management of projects and provide scope of work to the field crew, cad drafter and the signing surveyor.
  • Answer client calls with concerns or questions regarding the survey and anticipated delivery of the survey.
  • Provide field crews with calculated property corners for replacing lost or obliterated monumentation.
  • Ensure project hours do not exceed the billable and budgeted hours
  • Responsible for project management of survey projects.
  • Assigns and directs project effort (survey crews and technicians), project communications within the company and to outside stakeholders, monitors and processes financial information, and maintains client relationships and attends training, as necessary.
  • Keeping up to date with boundary law and construction procedures
  • Be vigilant for ways to improve methods or procedures and make suggestions to other staff.

Skill Requirements:

The position requires a complete understanding of land surveying and the various types of surveying that can be requested or required to help the client obtain the survey that will allow them to achieve their goal. Good communication skills are essential.

  • Familiar with operation of all survey instruments, including conventional and robotic total stations
  • Provides effective day-to-day supervision of project survey staff.
  • Reads and interpret titles, deeds, plats, plans and specifications.
  • Sets priorities and meets deadlines.
  • Identifies and implements effective courses of action in order to complete work assignments.
  • Maintains files of plats, documents, and other records.

ESSENTIAL/ NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


Meet with customers and/or their agents to discuss needs and feasibility on new construction projects and load additions, and to determine the schedule and required completion dates of different construction phases.

Communicate to all involved entities concerning any updates in the construction schedule or other changes with potential impact, documenting updates through letters and e-mails, as necessary.

Create and/or process work requests in a company specific Work Management System.

Estimate the electrical loads for customers and determine actual or proposed field measurements (such as span distances, conductor height/sizes, etc.). Model these conditions in the appropriate software applications to determine optimal equipment/material specifications to meet customer needs while ensuring all results are following respective regulatory requirements.

Use company specific software to draw the proposed and existing electrical features.

Produce and/or oversee the production of construction prints and right-of-way permit drawings for Field Construction, Operations and/or contractors:

Verify that locations of existing and proposed equipment and any third parties’ infrastructures (water, sewer, storm, gas, telephone, and cable lines) are adequately identified on the construction prints, and equipment specifications are captured.

Based on the scope of construction and company safety standards; determine necessity and scale of the Maintenance-of-Traffic (MOT) plan that Field Construction, Operations, and/or contractors would need for completing work in the right-of-way.

Troubleshoot customer voltage complaints and utilize engineering skills to resolve customer voltage complaint.

Meet with DOT, county, municipalities, other utilities and contractors to preplan the construction and modification of roads and distribution systems.

Interpret plans for large government projects of relative complexity, such as road widening, intersection improvements, and the installations or relocations of public infrastructures.

Analyze road construction design prints and identify/indicate any physical and economic impacts to utility facilities.

Mentor less experienced Designers.
